Course Description

The course is designed for all Deck and Engine Officers / Crew who in the future intend to sail on the Ammonia fuelled vessels. This course aims to provide the delegates with detailed information on the Physical and Chemical properties of Ammonia and various aspects of safely handling Ammonia. Various safety concepts with regards to Ammonia’s Hazards and how to detect and manage possible leakage. Candidates will be able to understand TLV, STEL, Hazardous Zones, Fire fighting techniques and First Aid measures for Ammonia contact on eyes, skin and inhalation.

Course Content

Upon successful completion of this course, the delegates will understand:

  • Physical and Chemical properties of Ammonia and various aspects of safely handling Ammonia.
  • Variuos safety concepts with regards to Ammonia’s Hazards and how to detect and manage possible leakage.
  • TLV, STEL, Hazardous Zones, Fire fighting techniques and First Aid measures for Ammonia contact on eyes, skin and inhalation.
  • Various Personal Protective Equipments for handling of Ammonia
  • Methods for calibration of Gas monitoring and Gas detection equipments.
