IHM Familiarization

Course Description

This course aims to familiarize all officers under fully managed vessels with the new requirement set forth by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in conformity to the new IHM control implementation system requirement as contained by IMO 2009 Hong Kong Convention (HKC 2009) and European Union Ship Recycle Regulation (EU 1257/2013).

Course Content

The course will provide the following knowledge and understanding of the following areas covered under IHM:

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Awareness of the existing risk of hazardous materials within the marine supply chain
  • Familiarity with the onboard maintenance, verification, and certification requirements for IHM
