Course Description

This course aims to provide practical knowledge and understanding of our Junior Officers on the key features and functions of Portal Active Link Enterprise Planning (PAL).

Course Content

On successful completion of the course, participants should be able to operate the PAL in performing their day-to-day shipboard tasks pertaining to:

  • Introduction to PAL with its System Overview, Features, Functions and System Administration
  • Certification with all related activities
  • Crewing (Crew list, Appraisals, CMS, Incidental Expenses)
  • LPSQ (Audit and Inspection, Unsafe Act/Condition, Near Miss, Accident, Risk Assessment, Work Permit, Management of Change, Shipboard Meeting, Drills, Activities)
  • Maintenance (Equipment details, Storage Location, Log Running Hour Counter, Mount/Dismount, Report Job Order, Inspection Calibration Record, Tech Form Overview, Incinerator Operation Data log, TEC 005- Monthly Running Hours, Claim Creation, Maintenance Analysis, Equipment Query, Job Overview, Spare Query, Claim Report)
  • Payroll with all activities and reports
  • Purchase (Item Template, Create Requisition, Approve Requisition, Goods Receipt, Stock Control, Reports, Customers Satisfaction Survey, Transaction Log, Purchase Transaction, Stock ROB and Base Report)
  • Use of application software QDMS Wiki
  • Sea Roster (Activities, Report)
  • Voyage (Add voyage, add port call, log voyage activity, China MSA Report, Reports, General Query, Consumption Summary, Performance Overview, Activity Tracker, Reefer Damage Report, Container Damage Report)
Entry Standards

Junior Deck and Engine Officers including Gas Engineer with background in basic computer operation.

Teaching Method

Combination of lecture-demo with hands-on practice and structured exercises that are focused on practical application onboard. Computer unit is made available for each participant. Remote access to PAL system.
