Course Description

This course is designed for deck officers on all ranks to improve their understanding of anchoring principles and techniques, ship maneuvering and company procedures for safe anchoring to reduce accidents.

Course Content

Successful completion of this course will enable participants to demonstrate the understanding of:

  • To understand regulatory IMO requirements.
  • To understand company-related procedures of fuel management.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of fuel chemistry and properties of the fuel.
  • Demonstrate understanding of engine manufacturer mitigation measures.
  • To understand the effects of Lube oils with new fuel types.
  • To appreciate alternative technologies.
  • To successfully identify fuel-related concerns at an early stage.
