Course Description

This course is aimed at Junior Officers involved in PSC inspections. The course aims to improve the knowledge and understanding of the Port State Control Inspections by understanding the various aspects of PSC inspection, preparing the vessel for PSC inspection and meeting the requirements effectively, including the understanding of common findings and how to address these findings.

The course provides an understanding of inspection procedures and key developments in port state control in MOU.

Course Content

Successful completion of this course will enable participants to:

  • Understand the objectives of PSC inspections, the relationship between PSC and Flag State Control and various MoU’s
  • Understand various types of PSC inspections
  • Demonstrate the understanding of PSC checks and confidently participate in PSC inspections
  • Prepare and maintain your operational areas for PSC Inspections
  • Demonstrate a professional conduct during PSC inspection

Instructor delivered remote training.

Guidelines

BSM’s QDMS, LPSQ reports, requirements under various IMO instruments e.g. ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL, MLC, ISPS, Load line etc., various Maritime Circulars and Codes, PSC MoUs and checklists
