Signing of the partnership agreement: Eva Rodriguez, BSM's Director HR Marine, and Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport in Egypt

“BSM Smart Academy is excited to welcome our latest collaborative partners that bring a rich tapestry of cultural backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences that will enrich our community. These partnerships demonstrate our shared commitment to fostering diversity, innovation, and technological advancement in maritime education. Their forward-thinking approach aligns perfectly with our mission to push the boundaries of traditional education. We look forward to the endless possibilities of a future filled with growth, learning, and success”, says Eva Rodriguez, BSM's Director HR Marine, recently visited the two universities that are now part of the BSM Smart Academy Programme.

The BSM Smart Academy Programme aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical training. Specifically, the initiative provides for nautical, technical and electrical undergraduates from participating maritime universities to take part in the programme as designated BSM cadets following the completion of their first year. This means that they not only receive an academic education but also practical knowledge close to current industry requirements. “We enhance the education of future seafarers by engaging with them at an earlier stage,” said Rodriguez at the launch.

Through the Smart Academy, BSM is taking a proactive approach to addressing the shortage of skilled labour in the maritime sector and developing highly skilled seafarers. By integrating industrial know-how with educational expertise, it is aimed to provide the students with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive and progress in the rapidly changing shipping world.
