A Family-Owned Ship Manager

BSM was formed in 2008 through the merger of four Schulte Group ship management companies – Hanseatic Shipping, Dorchester Atlantic Marine, Eurasia Group, Vorsetzen Bereederungs- und Schiffahrtskontor – which have been providing third-party ship management services since the 1970s.

The family-owned company has experience with all major vessel types such as tankers, gas carriers, bulk carriers, containers as well as with specialised vessel types like offshore and cruise vessels.

We provide client-centric service through 10 regional ship management centres in key shipping hubs and operate an extensive crew recruitment network globally as well as world-class training facilities.

BSM’s Safety Culture is driven by understanding human factors and providing concise and visual manuals drawing from aviation’s best practices. We subscribe to behavioural based safety through targeted training and positive reinforcement of safe behaviour and fostering an enhanced just culture to support safety culture. In addition, we provide our people with easy access to information and reporting opportunities via mobile applications and tablets onboard vessels.

BSM is a member of key industry bodies such as Intertanko, the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network, Container Ship Safety Forum, RightShip, Society of International Gas Tanker and Terminal Operators (SIGTTO); through the presence of our staff in these forums, we play an active role in formulating strategy and policies to improve safe operations for the shipping industry.
